Meldon Quarry was a granite quarry on the northern edge of Dartmoor about 2 miles south west of Okehampton. Apparently, the quarry opened in 1897 to supply track ballast and other stone products to the London and South Western Railway. It was privatised in 1994 only to close in 2007, a victim of the financial crash.

This little stream, which eventually flows into the West Okement, caught my eye as I wandered round looking for opportunities to shoot some old granite workings. I never did get those "quarry" shots but I'm not unhappy with this little cameo.
